Driving around and Lincoln

I never really tried driving around just for fun mainly because I thought it was a waste of gas but I tried it out for the first time today, and let me tell you, it is actually pretty relaxing.  I had nothing to do today and of course today was the one day EVERYONE was busy.  So I decided to go around Mount Prospect and get to know the area a little better.  Since I live on the fairview side, I know it pretty well and it's simple.  I ventured out towards the other side, the rival side if you will.  I went towards Lincoln Jr. High and Lions park.  I mean, I've been around there once in a while but I never really knew it all that well you know? Especially towards Lincoln I didnt know it all that well.  It was actually a nice little adventure to go out and about in MP.  So first I went to Lions park/wavepool and just went around the residential areas and then I hit up council (terrace I think?) towards the golf course.  I've never seen it from the outside.  I've only seen it from Marietta's back yard.  But yeah, around that area, near hi-lusi n all that, it's not really block structured so I kinda went around in circles for a little bit, gettin to know the area.  On the way, I saw good ol Lincoln Jr. High.  I haven't been near Lincoln in forever.  I think it's been 5 years since I visited, the last day of 8th grade.  So I figured why not visit Lincoln?

It felt SO weird visiting Lincoln.  I felt so old, parking my car at Lincoln.  Back when we went to Lincoln, I always thought highschoolers were so old and basically like our role models you know?  Anyone that drove a car was always considered old and here I am, visiting the very place where I thought that.  It's so weird to look back on it. Back then I was just starting to grow facial hair! and look at me now.  Got a chin strap and everything.  Well, not everything.  It is so strange to imagine how young these kids are that go to Lincoln.  Grades 6-8...I even saw some girls near Lincoln (I'm assuming they went to Lincoln) and they were so small and young.   Anyways, it has BARELY changed, atleast from the outside.  They did some painting job on the playground and actually put some hoops there.  I dont recall having basketball hoops in the backway/bus area.  They have 2 hoops and I noticed that they got rid of the hop scotch and 4 square on the ground.  I was actually kinda disapointed they did.  The new generation kids will now never know of such classic games as hopscotch and 4 sqaure.  4 square!!!  Ah and we cannot forget wallball.  I wonder if they play that still.....it'd be kinda hard with the basketball court in the way....But yeah I checked the inside from the outside (sadly the doors were locked) and they changed it a little bit.  They have some painting in the main commons area and a sign on the wall (im assuming it was for the 300 wing.  I can't believe I still remember the wings).  The gyms looked pretty much the same, again different in terms of some random painting of lions or w/e.  I think they might have upp'd the fitness center in West gym.

Visiting Lincoln brought back so many memories and a general vibe to it you know?  It's hard to explain.  Some were good memories and some were bad but it was mostly good memories.  The blacktop, field...man a lot of shit went down in that area.  The cat fight ahah oh man I think everyone knows what I'm talking about. Haha and of course its expected, the field area is the same old shitty field.  Ah, the good ol field.  Reminds me a lot about track.  I really miss it and the connections I've had with people.  There's one connection I miss the most that built up from Lincoln and into Prospect and I still remember that connection from time to time.  Even more so when I visited Lincoln.  It has faded away but that's what happens right?   Can't do anything about it now and it's in the past.

It was kinda depressing to look back on it knowing I won't have an experience like that ever again.  I really miss those days...I miss being a kid....and I don't want to grow up.  I wanna stay this age forever but sadly that's not how things work.  Each day I get older and closer to adult life and farther away from childhood.  But I am really glad I made that trip and drove around.  It was a good change and a good flood of memories/emotions.

Disconnect

I'm not really sure how to explain it.  It's kinda a weird feeilng.  Lately, I've felt a bit disconnected from everyone, friends particularly.  It might be because I haven't hung out in a while.  Maybe not.  I have been tryin to keep in contact with some friends and that seems disconnected also.  I guess they're busy.  Not really sure if this is going to continue or not.  Hope it doesn't because it's a strange feeling.  Don't get me wrong, this isn't a negative post per se.  Just a strange feeling.

Music as a Weapon

Music as a Weapon tour occured around May 15th I believe?  Yeah, I'm a tad late, I know.  Anyways, this was my first concert I've ever been to.  Let me tell you; it was exhilarating.  Extremely phenomenal and I encourage everyone to go out and see your favorite band live because there is nothing sweeter.  I always thought live was overrated and it wasn't nearly as good as the album quality.   I was definately wrong.  It's just a whole new experience in itself.  It was SOO much fun.  I got to see Disturbed and Killswitch Engage and I was so pumped.  They are my favorite bands and it was a memorable experience.

It was actually quite funny too because the stereotype is how its all violent and ridiuclous with mosh pits n all that. George was explaining to me that everything will be alright and it's not dangerous at all and it's all nice n happy right?  well, before we (me, george, anthony, paul, danielle and mike) went to the actual floor where the concert was being held, we saw a guy coming from the floor and he looked like a wreck.  He had blood all over his nose and looked so beat up and we all just looked at each other appalled.  It was hilaroius and probably one of those moments where "you had to be there".

Another funny thing was that george told me I should hold onto my glasses pretty tight cuz if you lose them, they're gone and you wont find them.  So I figured it wasn't that big of a deal you know?  Like how bad could it be that your glasses would fall off?  Well, me n george were just rocking out and we saw this huge heavy metal guy just headbanging and he picked up someone's pair of glasses from the floor, looked at it, and just chucked it into the audience in front of him, not giving a fuck.  It was SO funny.  I just looked at george with the expression "oh man what if it was my glasses haha".  It was pretty ironic, which added the humor.

So yeah there were other bands there like Lacuna Coil, gothic metal.  They weren't bad at all.....I think I might download some of their stuff once I get around to downloading lol.  Chimera were there too but we only caught like one or two songs from them and they were alright.  Spineshank got back together! and they were supposed to be on the second stage but there wasn't enough room for a second stage there so we didn't get to see them.  But man, I can't even begin to explain how awesome the concert was and what I have been feeling.  It was so cool to see them live and I loved watchin killswitch and disturbed, especially because I grew up with listening to Disturbed....They basically got me into hard rock.

Worst day ever

God must hate me.  I don't think I've ever had such a shitty day as yesterday and I've had my fair share of shitty days.  In the morning, I had my bio lecture at 9:00.  It was by far the worst lecture I had to endure.  It was such a boring topic and I had absolutely no interest in it.  On top of that, the professor went 10x faster than he normally does and he barely explained anything.  It was painstakingly hard to last 1 hour and 15 minutes.  He even finished his powerpoint and he NEVER finishes his powerpoints in 1 lecture because he usually explains and takes his time.  The only reason he went fast was because some Dr. came in for the lecture and of course the professor was trying to impress him and acts different around him.  I hate fake people.

Right after bio, I have History of Art and we had a "quiz" that day which usually takes up 40-50 minutes of the class.  The quiz was ridiculously hard and on top of that, we only had 30 minutes to do the quiz so basically we had no time to look over our answers and she just took our quizes.  Once again, this was due to the presence of another person.  Apparently some bitch from LA came with her mom to see and experience "lectures at loyola".  You know what?  That's bullshit.  She shouldn't have penalized our grades and our time just because some stupid student wants to see the lecture and that person might not even go to the damn school.  The professor took away our quiz time so that she could give the student 45 minutes of lecture.  That's bullshit.  The student's schedule should revolve around our schedule....not us giving up time for them.  The professor was also being fake as hell.  She was all nice and even made people compare the artwork just to make her look like a good professor.  The professor NEVER calls on people that don't raise their hand n whatnot.

I had sociology class right after that class and luckily it wasn't bad.  Right when sociology was finished, I thought to myself "From now on it should be a good day.  Just glad that I made it through classes being over.  Just gotta wait for paul to visit me so that we could go to depaul, have a good time and then hit chipotle with other friends and go to the demetri martin show.  awesome"  Well of course this day gets worse.  Paul was supposed to come at 2:30 but never showed up so I called him at 4 and apparently he got called into work last minute so his visit and our visit to depaul all got canceled.  Okay that sucks ass but atleast I'll go to chipotle and enjoy the rest of the day right?  I go back to my dorm play a little football and of couse I get hit in the eye AGAIN by the football.  I was so pissed and I had no idea why I missed the catch.  Maybe it was an off day.  I go back to my room and try to fix my glasses and of course I break the nose piece.  Great, this day can't get any fucking worse.  Of course it does.  My friends were running late so they canceled the chipotle hang out or w/e so I had to eat shitty simpson dining.  Unfuckinbelievable.  Well atleast the show was nice and that was the ONLY good thing about that day.

I get out of Gentile Center after the show and of course I step into a puddle.  What the fucking hell.  Seriously?  I can't have one moment where its not fucking my day up?

Worst Fucking Day Ever.

Last Night

Last night was probably one of the best nights I've had in a long time.  Thursdays are usually my blow off days because I only have two classes on friday so I don't have that much homework.  But last night was AMAZING.  It felt so great and it was relaxing.  I didn't even have a worry or care in the world.  As corny as it sounds, I felt like I was living in the moment, you know?  To not do homework totally changes your whole day and mood.

So after class/lunch, around 3:00, I came home and started to read John Stuart Mill's "On Liberty" for my philosophy class.  After about an hour, I sorta gave up on it.  I wasn't really retaining anything so I just stopped reading.  I took a shower, got ready, shaved (after a long time.....like a month and a half??), and went to go get some coffee with some friends I haven't hung out with in a while.  Their names were shaleen and nimrah; they were in my intro to islam class last semester.  Wow let me tell you, it was soooo nice and relaxing to be with them.  Like I seriously didn't care about anything.  I totally forgot about all the work I have to do and homework.  All we did was talk, have hot chocolate, laugh, and reminisce.  Time just flew by with them.  We sat there chillin for like 3 hours.  It was pretty ridiculous.

So once that ended, I came back in the dorm and I saw a group of guys waiting in front of the elevator.  It happened to be some friends from my floor so I asked em where they were going and what they were up to.  There were gonna watch only the best show in the world : The Office.  The TV in our lounge doesnt work so they were gonna go to the girls lounge on the 4th floor to watch it on the big screen.  So I decided to watch it with them.  I never watch the office on its air time and usually end up watching it on hulu (god i love hulu) on the weekends.  So I watched the office with them that day and it was a pretty funny episode.

After that I came back down, my friend kenny wanted to throw the football around a little bit in the hallway.  Yeah, I know it sounds like a dumb thing to do but that's what guys do.  Anyways, he was a quarterback back in highschool so he has been showing me how to throw the football and I'm actually getting decent at throwing it.  We have been throwing it in the hallways for a decent amount of time but yeah, he only wanted to throw it for a little bit.  So, around nine I started chattin with shaleen and nimrah again and we were just talkin bout random crap.

Around 10:00, I needed to get some dinner and I was starrrvvvinnngggg.  I didn't get any dinner because I was having coffee with those girls and the dining hall closed at 7:45 but I could careless.  My friend dave and I went to the Rambler room and got some food and went back to his dorm to chill.  We just talked about random crap and ate till like 11.  I went back to my room and kenny wanted to throw the football again.  How could I say no, n'est-ce pas??  So we just threw it around for an hour and a half...mb 2 hours.  My arm was KILLING me at the end.  It was around 1:00 a.m. and I was going to work on my biology lecture but, being the dumb guy I am, I went into kenny's room just to see what's up.  Of course we chilled for like an hour and I was way to exhausted from throwing the football around (yes, surprisingly it is tiring).  So I just crashed in my bed right after.

AND I have never slept so easily.  It was the best night of sleep I've ever had.  I didn't wake up during the night at all and it was all one continuous sleep.

Shit just keeps getting better and better.
